question from newby

I'm brand new here so this may have been brought up already, please be patient with me....

My computer melted with my itunes info and livewire stuff...

My iPod has all my old old video's on it that can't actually be played by the iPod but it still hold them in its memory. I know this because I plugged it into my NEW computer to get it charged and a file was brought up that had all this crazy crap from years ago that I never knew was imported to the iPod.

Soooo long story short, I don't want to erase whats on my iPod, I just need to get back onto itunes to start downloading etc. When, (haven't yet) I do download iTunes again, when I plug my iPod in will everything erase since I don't have a library set up etc? Also, how do I establish my old account onto the new computer. I know my information, i.e. songs and vid's are gone but I don't' want to start a whole new account.

Thanks for your time and patience folks!
